Post-compulsory school qualifications in Tasmania are generally divided into:
  • senior secondary schooling years 11 and 12
  • vocational education and training (VET)
  • higher education.

Qualifications are consistent around Australia and are described by the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), which was revised in 2011 to ensure that qualification outcomes remain relevant and nationally consistent, continue to support flexible qualifications linkages and pathways and enable national and international portability and comparability of qualifications. Information about Australian qualifications can be found at the AQF website at http://www.aqf.edu.au/aqf/about/what-is-the-aqf/

The list of senior secondary courses accredited in Tasmania is at http://www.tasc.tas.gov.au/0872

VET qualifications are Australia-wide. Training.gov.au (TGA) is the database on Vocational Education and Training in Australia. TGA is the official National Register of information on Training Packages, Qualifications, Courses, Units of Competency and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and has been developed for experienced training sector users.

The National Register of Higher Education Providers is at www.teqsa.gov.au/national-register. To find a higher education course please visit www.teqsa.gov.au/national-register/search/course.

Because a course / qualification is on a list does not mean that it is currently being offered in Tasmania. Qualification providers can decide what they deliver from the list of accredited courses / qualifications.
