Subject: TCE Senior secondary certification - 2005
Date: October 25, 2004
Attention Principals and TCE Co-ordinators
In Term I, we told you of decisions by the Tasmanian Qualifications Authority at its April 28, 2004 meeting about the provision of certification services for students completing TCE senior secondary courses from 2005.
The Authority decided
- that Authority syllabuses will continue to identify the groups of senior secondary students for which its accredited syllabuses are intended to be suitable without this implying a restriction on the enrolment of any individual student
- that the Authority will consider all students enrolled in and successfully completing TCE courses with senior secondary education providers that comply with Authority quality assurance, moderation and data collection requirements eligible to receive the qualification that recognises this achievement
- that the Authority will deliver certification services to senior secondary education providers that notify TQA annually of their anticipated certification needs and their agreement to relevant TQA quality assurance, moderation and data collection requirements.
In line with these decisions, we now ask senior secondary education providers to complete and return the attached form showing anticipated student numbers and agreement to the TCE senior secondary quality assurance, moderation and data collection requirements. The annual TCE manual sets out details about the TCE senior secondary quality assurance and moderation requirements. Dates and formats for TCE data collection are given in memoranda and reminders.
If your school or college will be seeking TCE senior secondary certification for any students in 2005 then the attached form needs to be completed, signed by the Principal and returned to the office of the TQA by Friday December 3, 2004.
